Consuelo (Connie R.) Garcia died after a long illness on September 21, 2017 at the age of 83. Connie was born in Pojoaque, NM on January 22, 1934 to Alex and Florinda Romero. Connie was preceded in death by her husband Ramon Garcia, her parents, father- and mother-in-law Willie S. and Paublita Garcia, sister Delfina Roybal and her husband Tony, and brothers-in-law Eddie Garcia and Joe M. Garcia. She is survived by son Michael R. Garcia (Cheryl), daughter Dorothy Ann Vinson (Keith), brothers Alex Romero (Jane) and Phillip Romero (Josephine), and sisters Noami Slater (Bob) and Toni Montoya (Ivan); sisters-in-law Mela Garcia, Amelia Garcia, and Celine Garcia; grandson Jason Vinson (Chasnie); and numerous other relatives.
Connie was part owner of Santa Fe Abstract and Title Co., Inc. where she worked for 33 years and was Treasurer for 20 years. She was also part owner of Garcia Construction Co., Inc. and Spear G Ranch Co., Inc. Connie was an active member of many organizations including Secular Franciscan (Treasurer), Sacred Heart League (Treasurer), Nocturnal Adoration Society, Holy Family Society, Youth Ministry, Healing Ministry, Eucharistic Ministry, Holy Faith Prayer Group, Cofradía De Nuestra Señora del Rosario “La Conquistadora,” World Apostolate of Fatima “Blue Army,” and Southwest Marian Devine Mercy Center (board member).
Visitation will be Monday, October 2, 2017 at 6 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service with a Rosary recital at 7 p.m. A second Rosary will be recited by the Secular Franciscans Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 9 a.m. at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service. Mass of Christian Burial will be afterwards at 10 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church with a reception following in the St. Anne Parish Hall. Interment will follow the reception at 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William Garcia, Phillip Romero, Bob Slater, Ivan Montoya, David Roybal, and Patrick Slater. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Vinson, Gabriel Garcia, and Alex Romero. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
