Sharon LaRue Sager of Santa Fe, New Mexico passed away Sunday August 27, 2017. Sharon was born in Fredrick, OK on March 11, 1941 as the oldest child to Fay and Cullen Hay. Sharon was preceded in death by her father Cullen Hay and stepfather Wilburn Dennis. She is survived by her mother Fay Dennis, her sister Jana Yablon, brother-in-law Steve Yablon, brother Steve Hay, her four children Kyle Sager and Melissa Velarde, Kindyl Sager, Janalyn Sager Maes and Hayly Balok and husband Aron; Nephew Benjamin Yablon his wife Kara, their daughters Charlotte and Harper: Nieces Liberty Yablon, Jessica Fangman and husband Brent and son: Elisha Corley and husband Travis and daughters. Grandson David Sager; Grand-daughters Colleen Sager, Aspyn Maes, Megyn Balok, Kiera Balok, and Kimber Balok.
For years Sharon was a familiar figure at Agua Fria Elementary as a volunteer and substitute teacher. She was very active with PTA and Cub Scouts, and was instrumental with starting the annual “Kite Day” and Halloween Carnival at Agua Fria School. For almost 2 decades Sharon was involved with the little league program here in Santa Fe, serving as player agent for the Metropolitan Little League most of that time. She also served several different roles on the Agua Fria Community Water Association Board. Later in life Sharon moved to Tularosa to be closer to her oldest daughter and granddaughter where once again she found her “community and friends” at the local elementary school, where she worked as a substitute teacher and volunteer. Five years ago she returned to Santa Fe and was not only reunited with old friends but made new friends within her community at Campo Allegria hosting regular soirée’s at her apartment.
A colorful celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on Friday September 1, 2017 at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service at 10 am. In lieu of flowers Sharon’s family would appreciate donations to Kitchen Angels in Sharon’s name.
