Amaro Amadeo Quintana

February 21, 2023

Tribute

Surrounded by his loving family, Amaro “Gino” Quintana peacefully left this world to rejoice in heaven on February 21, 2023.

Born in Santa Fe on February 17, 1944, Gino lived and loved with all the passion that a thousand souls couldn’t even muster.  Whether welding, making adobes, or delivering care packages to sick friends and family, Gino put his heart and soul into everything he did.  Whenever he strummed a guitar or blew his trumpet, Gino exposed his heart through his music.  While Agua Fria has grown quieter without Gino’s instruments making joyful noise, we know that the angels are singing and laughing along with Gino.  He joined the Army in 1965 and served his country as a medical corpsman. He returned home to share his gift for healing with everyone.  Living life on his terms, he made no excuses.

Gino was preceded in death by his father, Tony C. Quintana; his mother, Pita Quintana (whose love was his anchor throughout his life); his uncle, Rubel Crespin; and his sister, Delilah L. Armijo.

He is survived by his sister Judy L. Trujillo; special cousins: Eva Mae Gonzales and Ida Shappie; nieces: Michelle Lowrie (Ken), Cherelle Blea (Juan), and Brittany Gallegos (Fermin); nephews: Jerome Armijo, Ricardo Urioste (Leanna), and Bryan Trujillo; and several great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15th at 6:00 PM at Berardinelli Family Funeral Home, 1399 Luisa St., with a memorial service honoring Gino to follow.  Internment will be held at the National Cemetery on Thursday, March 16th at 10:30 AM.  A reception will immediately follow at Christian Life Church, 121 E. Siringo Rd.

Serving as pallbearers are: Jerome Armijo, Ricardo Urioste, Bryan Trujillo, Chris Blea, Nick Lowrie, and Fermin Gallegos.  Honorary pallbearers are; Ken Lowrie, Juan Blea, Ronnie Leyba, Daniel Herrera, Brittany Gallegos, and Chloe Lowrie.

Gino is loved by many and will be greatly missed.
