Bertha Roybal

Bertha G. Roybal, 93, of Santa Fe, NM passed peacefully into her eternal reward on May 1, 2023, surrounded by her family. 

Bertha, the daughter of Inez and Alberto Garcia, attended St. Francis Catholic School before graduating from Santa Fe High School in 1950. 

Bertha married the love of her life Gregorio Roybal on July 1, 1950. They were happily married for 48 years until his death in 1998. Bertha was a homemaker; her family was the focus of her life. She was a wonderful seamstress, cook, and baker. She was also a devout Catholic who believed in prayer and prayed several rosaries a day for her family.  Bertha had a beautiful smile, which reflected her heart of gold.

She was preceded in death by her parents, devoted husband Gregorio Roybal, two brothers, Jose Garcia and Adolph Garcia, daughter-in-law Stacey Miller-Roybal, son-in-law Ruben Romero, sister-in-law Tillie Garcia, and brother-in-law Al Burgess.

Bertha is survived by her children: Marie Romero, Gregory Roybal, Judy Gonzales (Gilbert), Julie Robinson (Tony), and Joseph Roybal (Mickie). She is also survived by her sisters Tess Burgess, Susan Sena, and Virginia Ortiz; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers:

Gilbert T. Gonzales, Christopher Roybal, David Roybal, Gregory Gonzales, Gilbert R. Gonzales, Tony Robinson and Gilbert Gonzales.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 11th at Berardinelli Family Funeral Home, 1399 Luisa St. Santa Fe, NM, from 5-8 PM.

Rosary and Mass will be on May 12th starting at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1301 Osage Ave. Santa Fe, NM. Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11 AM.

Private interment at the National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM will be at a later date.
