ESPERANSA (HOPE) CARRION

Santa Fe - It is with great sadness that the family of Esperansa (Hope) Carrion have to announce her passing on Sunday, February 19,2023 at the age of 81. Hope was born on September 16,1941 in Sunset, New Mexico, Lincoln County. She was the daughter of Eustaquio and Nestora Silva.
Hope was a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and daughter. She loved to travel and spend time with her children, sisters and brothers and grandchildren. She graduated cum-laude with a Master's degree in bilingual education. She retired from the Santa Fe Public schools after many years as a bilingual school teacher. She always had a passion for teaching and children. She was very close to many of her students. She loved to play bingo and go to the casino.
Hope will be lovingly remembered by her children Louise Dunaway and her husband James Dunaway, daughter Jeri Carrion, son Marco Carrion and wife Loretta Carrion. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and great grandchildren her three surviving siblings Ernestina Huizar, Adelina Pino, and Albert Silva (Isabel), numerous nephews, nieces and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Louie Carrion, parents, six sisters, and two brothers.
A special thank you to Rachel Flores and Ralph Silva who in the last year have made numerous visits to be a loving support to Hope by taking her out to eat, ice-cream stops, manicures, etc., anything to help her to enjoy the life she had left from the progressive Alzheimer's.
Esperansa will be cremated and buried by Catholic tradition. On Thursday March 02, 2023 at 09:30 am, a rosary will be held at Santa Maria De La Paz. Followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Rosario Cemetery upon completion of the mass.
Pallbearers include: James Dunaway and Santino Carrion. Honorary pallbearers include: Estevan Carrion, Noah Carrion, Jonah Carrion, Zachary Dunaway, Dylan Dunaway, Olivia Dunaway, Jack Dunaway, and Zoey Dunaway.
