Our loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, July 7, 2018.
PFC Gustavo Gonzales, Sr. was a veteran of WWII (Korean Conflict). He retired from the State of New Mexico.
Gustavo Sr. was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Maida L. Gonzales; sons, Robert A. Gonzales and Eugene P. Gonzales; grandson, Maxie Gonzales; daughter-in-law, Anna Gonzales; parents, Jose and Anita Gonzales; 3 sisters, and 7 brothers. Gustavo Sr. was the last survivor of the immediate family of Anita and Jose Gonzales.
He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Gonzales-Hart (husband Michael); sons, Max Gonzales (wife Julie), Gustavo Gonzales, Jr., Alfred Gonzales (loving partner Rose Slade), and James Gonzales; sister-in-law, Lucy Gonzales; and Christina Alarid-Gonzales; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We will miss his wonderful smile and great sense of humor. He will be truly missed by his family and all who loved and knew him.

A rosary for Gustavo Sr. will be held at San Ysidro Catholic Church in Tesuque on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 6:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Santa Fe on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 11:00am followed by committal at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45pm.
Pallbearers will be: Chris Gonzales, Dominic Gonzales, Sabastian Gonzales, Kevin Hart, and Anthony Hart. Honorary pallbearer will be: Bennie Gonzales, Jr.
