Joe Guadalupe Briones

On January 6, 2023 Joe Briones, loving husband and father of three passed away peacefully at his home in the presence of his family. Joe is survived by his loving wife Clara and his three children.

Joe was born December 18th, 1936 in Asherton TX., he was 88 years old.  Joe was the youngest of 6 brothers and sisters and was the last surviving sibling. On May 19th 1958 he married Clara Salazar of Santa Fe in Corpus Christi TX and raised their three there until moving back to Santa Fe in 1967.

Joe spent many years running his own insurance company which eventually grew into the “ Joe Briones Agency” Real Estate company, which he ran for many years. After closing his company, he went to work for Sotheby’s Real Estate and finally finished his career at Keller Williams Realty before his retirement in 2001. Joe was a well-respected Santa Fe Realtor who always had time to mentor a new agent or have a cup of coffee with fellow Realtors or business leaders in the community. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and for being the “best dressed” realtor in Santa Fe. He was also very generous and loving to his family and grandchildren. Joe was always the first to help his friends and family with whatever was needed and never had a harsh word to say about anyone.

Joe is survived by his wife Clara of 64 years, his three children Janice (CE Laird), Erik (Dawn) and Louis (Kari) his 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Services will be held Thursday February 2nd at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe at 9 Grazing Elk Drive in Pojoaque. Rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m., burial at the National Cemetery at 12:30.

The family would like to thank the staff of Del Corazon for the wonderful care they gave Joe.
