Lonnie Petry

LONNIE PETRY Lonnie Petry, age 51, died in a scooter crash May 6, 2019 in Santa Fe. Lonnie was born May 22, 1967, in Santa Fe where he lived most of his life. He'll be remembered for his caring soul, his quick wit and for living life on his terms. He was a longtime employee in the family business A-1 Signs and later owned Handy Dandy Handyman Helpers. Lonnie was inseparable from Pyro, his Blue Heeler and service dog, who was well known around town for performing tricks. Pyro passed away tragically last year and Lonnie recently rescued another blue heeler, McKenzie. Lonnie was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. His laugh and jokes brought smiles to all those around him. His favorite places included Hyde Park, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or anywhere he could be with his daughter and granddaughter, or his son. He was preceded in death by his father Leo A. Petry and brothers Tony Ochova, Lynn A. Petry and Leo A. Petry Jr. He is survived by his mother Bertha Petry; daughter Sara K. Petry; son Leo Joseph A. Petry; granddaughter Maya Nikole Haley; Lucy Petry; sisters Kathy Peerman (Steve), Karen Drysdale (Charlie), and Connie Ochova; brothers Lee A. Petry, Larry A. Petry (Rose), and Louie A. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 17, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 410 Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, New Mexico. A graveside memorial will take place at noon at Rosario Cemetery, 499 Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, followed by a reception at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
