Mabel C. Moya, 94, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2018 with family by her side.
Mabel was born April 24, 1924 to Monico and Teodorita Castellano in Florence, CO.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Apolonio, infant son, Patrick, daughter, Mary Anne, and son, George. She is survived by her sister Lucy Romero (Benny), sister-in-laws, Julia Romero and Stella Arrey, grandchildren Walter Roybal Jr. (Christine), Erik Roybal (Tammy), Michelle Archuleta (Orlando), Lesley Lacy (Keith) Sherrye Roybal (Billy), Anna Zappia (Johnny), Katie Orozco (Carlos), 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and many cherished nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Liz Montoya who was a devoted companion during the past few years. Additionally, friend and caregiver during the last chapter in her life, Fernando, and Mercedes Perez who also provided loving care during the last few months of Mabel’s life; the family deeply appreciates her kindness.
Mabel loved her family dearly and was devoted to them her entire life. She loved to cook, garden, and crochet. She was well known for her hand crafted afghans and blankets. Mabel was an active member of both St. Anne’s and St. John the Baptist churches in Santa Fe, NM serving in the Choir and Altar Society. She treasured her many trips with Apolonio and George across the country visiting relatives and especially their traditional wedding anniversary trips to Laughlin, NV where she and Apolonio enjoyed the slot tournaments at the casinos. A rosary will be recited Monday June 25, 2018 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Santa Fe, NM followed by Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
