MARIA ELIZA MONDRAGON

OBITUARY

Maria Eliza Mondragon, age 103, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend was taken gently from this earth into the beloved arms of her dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

She was a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico for 88 years, and an accomplished seamstress, ran a successful home day care center, was amazing homemaker and cook. She was a woman of great faith, charitable, and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Maria Eliza was preceded in death by her loving husband Enedino of 49 years, loving parents Irenio and Isabel Martinez, and her loving sisters, Josefita Martinez, Annie Mondragon, Socorro Martinez, Elvira Garcia, Celia Roybal, and her brothers Louis G.  Martinez, Eliseo Martinez, Donaciano Martinez, Jose Seberino Martinez, Chris Martinez; and son-in-law, Paul Forster.

Maria Eliza is survived by her loving children, Theresa Barela and husband Joseph, Martin Mondragon and wife Loretta, Socorro Mondragon, Nadine Stenberg and husband Paul; Tom Mondragon and wife Bernadette; grandchildren: Jerome Mondragon, Michael Barela (Roxanne), Jocelyn Zimmerman (Andrew), Kelly Rivera (Anthony), Marla Gallegos, Gabriel Forster (Terese), Eva and Wesley Stenberg; and great grandchildren: Kai Louis, Dakota Leah, Kashton James, Lylah and Sage Forster, Brody Silver, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers:  Marty Mondragon (son), Thomas Mondragon (son), Joseph Barela (son-in-law), Paul Stenberg (son-in-law), Jerome Mondragon (grandson), Michael Barela (grandson), Anthony Rivera (grandson), and Ron Lujan (cherished friend).

Services will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 511 Alicia Street.  A Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m., and a mass celebrating Maria Eliza’s life will follow at 10:00 a.m.  A procession to the Santa Fe National Cemetery will follow, 501 N. Guadalupe St., for the interment at 12:30 p.m.
