When I was hired as a post-doc at M-1 in 1987, my lab was immediately adjacent to Bob's. Bob was a wealth of knowledge for me as a young man, fresh out of graduate school. He helped me learn the science and chemistry of explosives, and he introduced me to mountain biking in an around Los Alamos. Bob also introduced me to Pajarito Mountain, where I would frequently go to work clearing runs from trees and rocks.

Bob was full of interesting stories from the early days of the Lab. He was so knowledgeable, and full of enthusiasm and life, that I felt very fortunate to have had my lab located right next to his. He made my early days at Los Alamos interesting, and he helped me learn about explosives. I cannot go into detail, but Bob's contributions to the nuclear weapons' enterprise are considerable. I am fortunate to have known him, and wish the best to his family.

We knew Bob and Audrey from skiing at Pajarito; doug served many years with Bob on the National Ski Patrol. I remember very well learning of the early years of the Los Alamos Ski Club from Bob and interesting and funny stories of what was and could be done cutting slopes and building a first-class ski area.
We remember and celebrate Bob's life and his friendship, doug and Dotty Reilly, White Rock, NM

Please accept my sincere condolences for your recent loss. My heart goes out to you and your family. I have always received comfort from the Bibles’ word at Philippians 4:7 which reads “and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus”.
I hope you can receive comfort from these words as well. Margo Simmons
