Rumaldo J. Roybal, 85, of Tesuque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on October 1st 2023, surrounded by family.
He was born January 19, 1938 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the son of late Rufino and Flora Roybal. He was one of seven siblings and the husband to Lorraine Roybal.
He graduated from Santa Fe High School and went on to join the army as a cook from 1961-1963. Following the army he went on to become a florist at Flowers by Floral and the lead gardener at the Santa Fe Opera. He later went on to become a Firefighter/Dispatcher of the Santa Fe Fire Department which he later retired in 1990.
He enjoyed spending time tinkering around his yard, helping others and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his children Reynaldo (Karla), Alicia (Gene), Cristella and Josie (Lawrence). Grandchildren Brianna, Diego, Angelica, Loren, Kayla, and Holly, and great grandchildren Jacey, Kennedy and Bella Rose. Siblings Rosemary, Rene (Ginger), Magdalena and Gaby (John).
Rumaldo is proceeded in death by his wife Lorraine Roybal , parents Rufino and Flora Roybal , his brothers Esperanza and Johnny Roybal and grandsons James Chavez and Enrique Roybal.
Serving as pallbearers Brianna, Diego, Angelica, Loren, Kayla, Holly and Evan. Honorary pallbearers Jacey, Kennedy, and Bella Rose.
The rosary will be held on October 17, 2023 from 6:30PM -7:30PM at Berardinelli funeral home followed by a funeral mass on October 18, 2023 at the Cathedral Basilica at 11:00 AM with interment at the National Cemetery at 12:45. Concluded with a reception at the Elks Lodge.
The family is very thankful and grateful for the loving care that was given to him by Santa Fe Beehive staff.
