Sister Mary Joseph Padilla

SISTER MARY JOSEPH OF THE NATIVITY OCD.

A Carmelite Nun, Sister Mary Joseph of the Nativity, entered into eternal life on November 5th, 2018 after battling

cancer. She was 62 years of age and in her 39th year of religious profession of a life hidden in Christ. She was born July 11, 1956 to Ramon and Josie (Gallegos) Padilla in Mountainair, NM. and given the name Ramona Maria Padilla.

She grew up in Albuquerque and entered the Carmel of Santa Fe when she was 20.

Sister Mary Joseph preferred domestic duties, handcrafts and gardening; she was a familiar welcoming voice her many years as the “Turn Sister.”

She is survived by her Father, three sisters, two brothers, and the Carmelite Nuns.

Rosary will be Friday, November 9th at 2:00pm, and the Funeral Mass follows at 2:30pm in the Carmelite Monastery Chapel. Committal will be private within the Monastery enclosure.
